Description
The Terpsikhore Collective officially began in 2003 as Terpsikhore Inc. JK Horne started it when he opened up a small studio in Garner, NC. He wanted to put out local music and make a significant contribution to the North Carolina music community. It was then that he got in touch with Mike Robinson and Adam Baker – classmates at his school. JK knew they were in a fairly well received local act called Sedona, and called upon them with the offer to record some music at his new studio. They spent the following year together working closely on an EP titled “We the Great Sea”. By the time they finished recording it, they had all become very good friends. At that point Mike and JK decided to take the necessary steps to release the EP independently. This would mark the beginning of an idea that would continue to grow and be revised and then grow more over the following years.
The studio equipment moved a number of times as Sedona and Annuals would continuously record and develop. Terpsikhore nourished Sedona and Annuals behind the scenes for a couple more years, until some Annuals demos were noticed by Ace Fu records. Annuals went on to break into the wider world of music, simultaneously opening doors for its original benefactor- Terpsikhore. The artist affiliated with the Terpsikhore Collective work in and out of JK’s home studio in Raleigh, NC – Incessantly collaborating with each other and striving to make the best music possible. The general goal of the Collective is to support creativity in all its forms and to act as an outlet for music as well as other inspired projects.
