Lonnie Walker shares his thoughts on...

 His style of music:
It ranges from punk to old country. Eric is really into the blues, so you hear a lot of that in his solos. I would say that it is a hybrid of all of those different influences. We have been dubbed as "Freak Folk", which is cool and makes sense.

 His biggest musical influences:
Talking Heads, Pixies, Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Gang of Four, T-Rex, Tom Waits

The funniest thing he's seen lately:
I've really enjoyed awkward farts in public lately. For example, while in the theatre during the Omen there was a really serious part and the guy that was sitting next to me shuffled in his seat and I let a goose slip. A woman in the front row said, "I KNOW HE DIDN'T!" It was pretty funny in general, but the crowd reaction made the moment special.

The origins of the name "Lonnie Walker":

My Dad used to call me Lonnie Walker. It was the name of one of his old friends. His friend Lonnie was an artist, and as a kid i used to draw alot.

Who he's listening to right now:

Lately I've been listening to the new Animal Collective, Spoon, a band I found recently called Monotonics, Future Islands, Dan Deacon, and Annuals.

 What he couldn't live without:
Well, first of all my guitar and my camera, because with my songs and photographs I'm able to capture dark, pessimistic events which allow me to express myself creatively. But seriously, I probably also can't live without Popsecret Butter Popcorn.

One of his favorite songs that he's written:
"Summer Time" is a song about an introspective experience I had while gazing out of a sunroom in Greenville. My parents had been expressing their thoughts about my plans for the future and their concern was weighing heavily on me. I was conflicted because I understood their worry, but at the same time I was confident that my life was heading in a good direction. Seeing the types of summer time activities that were making people content, like a girl eating a corn dog while laying in the sun, made me realize that as long as I did something that fulfilled my artistic needs I would be alright.

Listen to "Summer Time" here: (coming soon)

"Summer Time" lyrics:
It's a tired summer morning because the days are so long layin' outside in the grass eating corn dogs in the sun and as the cigarette ash lays in mountains on the earth Spend all your money on gas just to go fast in reverse as my mom told me, "Son, you better organize your life" and as my dad told me, "Son, you better organize your life" and as my sister told me, "Brother, I think that you're alright"

Thank you. I think I'm alright too

and I do the best I can with this head that I got and it's a mighty fine nice head and it's got mighty fine nice thoughts and if my brain had legs and it could walk around the block then it would wear a pair of sunglasses and coppertone sunblock and all the people would be jealous as they saw it walk with style with it's spinal cord a-waggin' and it's neurons running wild but there is no need for braggin' with all the words that it may speak for there are no limbs attached to tell the ideas that it keeps

and I keep my head above my shoulders, that's the only place it stays I keep my hair on my head til the day that that falls away and I keep my pubic hair well trimmed I keep my face very well shaved my toe nails are never long 'cause I cut 'em every day I walk with my back up to space and a smile on my face

well I loved a woman once little miss name that's not unique she was a fag hag and had a black bag where she carried her match sticks she would strike them off my scruffy beard and the smoke would get so thick that I would run away she would not stay she found another prick, that little bitch

but I keep a place in my heart for all the friends of mine even though we all get old and we get lost in time you keep me high as mountains and I feel like a fatty tree I hope I've helped you out as much as you have helped out me

When I keep my head above my shoulders, that's the only place it stays I keep my hair on my head until the day that that falls away and I keep my pubic hair well trimmed I keep my face very well shaved my toe nails are never long because I cut 'em every day I walk with my back up to space and a smile on my face these days.
